Maison et Objet 2024

By: Paloma Harrington

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the bi-annual Maison et Objet trade show took place in Paris this January 18 to 22.

With over 600 new exhibitors joining this milestone edition, the event continues to serve as a platform for homeware and interior brands to unveil their latest designs and collaborations. This year, I decided to pack my bags and travel across the Channel to check out the latest trends!

This year’s theme was ‘Tech Eden,’ challenging visitors to contemplate the intricate relationship between sustainability, innovation, and design.

The exhibition unfolded as a captivating exploration of interior design trends, leaving me genuinely inspired. The prevailing theme throughout seamlessly blended minimalist Scandi, boho, and sustainability, yet it was a fresh, updated take on these familiar aesthetics.

Throughout the event, a notable dominance of neutrals captivated my attention. The colour palette showcased a sophisticated interplay of subdued tones, creating an ambience that felt both calming and modern. It was a reminder that simplicity can be extraordinarily chic.

Natural materials took centre stage, with an abundance of wood and linen used in various innovative ways. This emphasis on organic elements underscored a collective commitment to sustainability, mirroring a conscientious shift within the industry.

What truly stood out were the offerings from Belgian and Dutch furniture suppliers. Their designs exuded a unique blend of functionality and aesthetics and caught my attention from a Staging point of view.

Fabrics and upholstery made a bold statement, featuring an array of motifs and playful prints. What struck me was the ability to infuse these elements while maintaining an overall neutral palette. It demonstrated a nuanced approach to injecting personality into spaces without sacrificing the timeless appeal of neutrals.

Attending Maison Et Objet 2024 was a rewarding experience, providing insight into the current pulse of the interior design and staging worlds. The event served as a barometer for market preferences, highlighting what resonates with both designers and consumers – which for us, Stagers, is key as we work directly to what sells and connects with the final consumer.

As the showcased trends find their way into homes and commercial spaces, it’s evident that the industry is evolving toward a harmonious convergence of style, sustainability, and global inspiration. This event undoubtedly sets the tone for the future of interior design, reflecting the ingenuity of lead designers and the evolving tastes of a discerning audience.
