Top 3 Tips for New Home Stagers by Natalie Evans

When I started my own home staging business in 2018, I found that the following tips were vital in helping me grow my company into the industry-leading organisation it is today.

Tip 1

When starting your home staging business, it is important to understand where you see your business going. At the start of your journey, you need to consider whether you see your company as a solo undertaking, filled with passion, or a global enterprise.

Understanding your ambitions at this stage will help you further down the line when it comes to planning your business model, building infrastructure and making decisions.

Tip 2

Know your stuff. It is important that you are confident in your area of expertise. Investing time into educating yourself by listening to podcasts, surrounding yourself with industry professionals, joining associations such as HSA, and research will all help to start, maintain, scale, and run your business.

Tip 3

Perseverance is key in building any new business. Creating a solid foundation for your company and getting its name noticed is not quick or easy. There will be many times when pitching your services to an estate agent where they will not understand the benefits home staging brings. Just have the confidence that if they don’t need your service today, they will do in the future. Keep in contact over time.

Whilst it’s still in its infancy in the UK, home staging is a rapidly developing market that provides plenty of opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to grow their own businesses. By understanding what you want to achieve, investing in education and training and putting in the hard work, you can make your dream career in home staging become a reality.
